Things I Want Thursday: In the Home Stretch (I HOPE!)

"Things I Want Thursday" was started by our friend Sass at Are You Sassified?. Go on over to check out what she wants, and give her your list too. For more Sassy B TIWT, go here.

1.) For me to not be such a stickler in wording and grammar for these dang promotion papers. I did lots of research and had a kickass outline at the end of last week (so proud of myself for finding that much to talk about to fill ten pages), and this week has been actual writing. Problem is I'm only finished with two of the five sections because I cannot move to the next section until the one I'm on is PERFECT. I need to give in to the concept of "sloppy copy" and just get this draft FINISHED.

2.) To be able to continue this early-to-bed-early-to-rise thing after I'm finished with these papers. I'm so ridiculously motivated these days and keep to a wonderful schedule. I just cannot let this slip back into lie-ins and late nights once I turn these bad boys in.

3.) For you people to quit having life-changing and dire-circumstances and not-so-big-a-deal-but-still-I-want-to-know-about-it things going on in your lives while I'm not logging in here! I mean, jeez, it's like you have a life outside of me lurking/living vicariously/being all up in your commenting business.

4.) A huge-ass riding lawn mower with mulcher attachment. I swear I have the most humongous maple tree on the face of this earth in my backyard. It has enough leaves to supply my whole backyard, my front yard/front walk/front porch (they leap small buildings in a single bound), and my two neighbors' ENTIRE side yards with an abundance of orange-colored crunchiness. What's in my arsenal at present? A tempermental push mower that takes three, sometimes four, rounds of patient-coaxing-starter-pulling-wait-in-the-house-for-fifteen-minutes-between-tries nonsense. And then proceeds to push the leaves in front of it but never actually overtakes them.

Wow. What a life I lead. Get up, write promotion papers, eat, write promo papers, argue with the lawn mower, eat, write promo papers, sleep. I cannot understand why the MTV reality show moguls aren't beating down my door right now.

HAPPY THURSDAY!!!! (Mwaaaah!)

Unca Scope asks, "Did you set your push mower on the highest setting? Did you try having the front wheels on the highest setting and the back wheels lower, so the front lip is at an angle?"

Oh my gosh, I know what you mean. We have the world's biggest poplar tree in our backyard and it covers our lawn with like a foot of leaves - and then you look up at the tree and it STILL has two trillion more leaves to let loose. *sigh* It's a never ending war. And the tree is sooooooooo winning.

Ha! I'm laughing at the thought of your poor lawn mower unable to catch any leaves.

(happy blogoversary, btw - I forgot to mention it above. You are fabulous!)
